It’s painfully obvious that not to many of you were happy with the news on THE CRAFT being remade. Well today the headlines are being filled with the remake of MAD MAX and honestly it’s more good than bad. Which makes us question why a film like that can get so much praise and not the others? What really tickles our fancy is the idea that no more original horror films exists but one of the most prominent denials of this in the last few years is due to the THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE franchise. ICYMI the trailer from IFC Midnight debuted last week and actually received a few blurbs in mainstream media. Why? Well essentially because most of the the mainstream is disgusted with the existence of this franchise and questions who in their right mind would even want to see a film of this caliber. Well f**k the mainstream as we know exactly who is going to see THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3 FINAL SEQUENCE when it’s out on May 22nd us! So regardless of how certain outlets feel we who have dedicated our lives to horror is happy to see the films get the full run.
This not to say that we feel the HUMAN CENTIPEDE films are the best horror to see but the fact that it’s being discussed is what’s important. It’s a daunting task trying to explain why you still enjoy horror films to the masses. While many of us hang around people of the same interest you may not be so lucky depending on certain factors like where you work. If you are the person at work that everyone comes to when a new horror film is announced on television then you are the audience we are talking to.
It’s time to realize that remakes are going to continue in the horror/action/fantasy/sci fi realms. So in a sense we should be thankful that films like THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE exist if we are fans or not. It reminds us that at least some people are still thinking outside of the box. So while it has been announced that Leigh Janiak will helm the THE CRAFT remake not many will see her extraordinary supernatural love epic HONEYMOON. Social feminists are giving the remake praise as they can’t wait to see what a woman can do with the material but still have doubts if it needs to be remade. Everyone seems to have high praise to see MAD MAX FURY ROAD and are looking past the remake notation to focus on their more lofty expectations. To try and figure out the whys behind all this would be pointless because plain and simple people are people. We implore you as an audience to be the catalyst to tell the mainstream look beyond Hollywood for horror so that filmmakers can get their proper due before they are slated for a remake. Enjoy the trailer for THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3 ahead ICYMI and look for it theaters and VOD May 22nd.
