The grindhouse inspired and over the top series from producers John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening) and David Straiton (Bates Motel) BLOOD DRIVE has a home. Syfy has ordered 13 episodes from the Universal Cable Prods. which will also be directed by Straiton. Looking to stay relevant in the original programming model Syfy looks to duplicate the unlikely success that was found in shows like Z NATION.
BLOOD DRIVE follows the last good cop in the post apocalyptic world of Los Angeles who has an insane female fatale partner with a penchant for blood. The blood by the way fuels the cars so this could possibly have cult status written all over it. We should see more news on the release of the show in the near future but more than likely it won’t be until the second quarter of 2016.
“This highly stylized roller coaster ride is a throwback to 1970s grindhouse cinema,” said Syfy president Dave Howe. Added UCP president Jeff Wachtel, “The combination of gritty action and dark humor can push the envelope in some fun and unexpected ways” – which was told to Deadline. Not sure how excited you guys are to see BLOOD DRIVE but it looks as if horror television continues to grow for sometime to come.
