Destined to become a cult classic since it’s inception is the sci fi comedy from Rooster Teeth LAZER TEAM. Hilarious and a lot of fun are a few words to describe this over the top feature. Making it’s world premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest LAZER TEAM is filled with quick witted jokes and explosions galore. It won’t go down as one of the greats but entertaining enough for viewers find a lot to enjoy from the film. LAZER TEAM comes from director Matt Hullum and involves four unlikely men who stumbled upon an alien weapon designed to help them save the world. The only issue is the four them are so incompetent they may lead to the downfall of man instead of being it’s savior.
LAZER TEAM is filled with laughs and that works just fine for what’s going on in the story. It is the type of film that if watched more than one time will surely deliver memorable quotes. VARSITY BLUES meets THE FACULTY with an unlikely cast of heroes to save to the world. Each performance in LAZER TEAM complimented the other but there was nothing that really stuck out as ground breaking. It truly is just a feel good type of movie that we are sure grabbed a decent response from festival goers. Intelligent comedy mixed with a tad bit of silliness will find favorable mention from LAZER TEAM. With the insanity of films shown during the fest it’s possible this may become one of the least memorable features but once it hits the general public it should still garner a favorable response. LAZER TEAM is a great feature to debut at FF as it truly embodies exactly the type of genre that would be found at the prestigious event.
LAZER TEAM is directed by Matt Hullum and stars Burnie Burns, Gavin Free, Michael Jones, Colton Dunn, Allie DeBerry and Alan Ritchson.
