After many purchases and hopes of acquisitions finally the horror film THE BYE BYE MAN has a home. The film is based off of the short story THE BRIDGE TO BODY ISLAND by Robert Damon Schneck. The film has been picked up for distribution worldwide by STX and filmmaker Stacey Title will be at the helm. THE BYE BYE man will also be co financed and co produced by Intrepid Pictures.
As of right now the plot has not be disclosed but Deadline reports the film will follow a man trying to prove his brother’s innocence of a supernatural crime. The story first appeared in the anthology THE PRESIDENT’S VAMPIRE: STRANGE-BUT-TRUE TALES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THE BYE BYE MAN has been adapted for the screen by Jonathan Penner and David Prior. It is set to star Douglas Smith (Pan’s Labyrinth), Cressida Bonas (Tulip Fever), Lucien Laviscount (Scream Queens) and Doug Jones (Ouija). Intrepid’s Trevor Macy, and LAMF’s Simon Horsman and Jeffrey Soros, with Melinda Nishioka are all producing.
THE BYE BYE man is set to be released sometime in 2016. Look for more updates in the near future.
