We are all here at Horror Movies Uncut because we share a love for scary horror flicks. But did you know that a good scare could actually be healthy, too? Believe it or not, there was a study published by The Telegraph that proved watching 90 minutes of horror movies can burn nearly 200 calories. And, we want to make sure you stay healthy, so let us present some of the most eagerly anticipated 2016 horror movies you can include in your “diet plan” for next year.

The Boy
Directed by William Brent Bell, The Boy will be one of the first scary movie releases next year. Set to be released by STX Entertainment on January 22, 2016, it was previously known as The Inhabitant. The Boy documents an American girl (Lauren Cohan) who signs up for a nanny job in a remote English village. She finds out upon her arrival that she will be looking after an actual life-size porcelain doll, which the parents treat like a real boy so they can cope with their son’s death.

The Cell is an American science fiction horror that stars John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, which is based on Stephen King’s 2006 novel and is directed by Tod Williams from Paranormal Activity fame. The movie will feature an English artist (played by Cusack) who gets to witness a mysterious signal broadcast that turns humans into mindless vicious animals. Stories based on mobile technologies are a common trend nowadays with many Japanese horrors movie revolving around cellphones. Mobile developer and publisher, Gaming Realms who created Spin Genie Slingo says that smartphone dependency has surpassed other computing devices, which has popularized the devices to unparalleled levels so much so that directors are now tapping into the trend for their movie scripts. We expect this movie to give us the creep once it hits the big screen on February 26, 2016, just don’t take your cell in with you!

The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist
The sequel of the popular 2013 The Conjuring movie arrives next year. The two actors, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, will be reunited again as the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. This time around, the couple fly to England (London Borough of Enfield) to investigate the paranormal activities at a council house. It is slated for released in the US on June 10, 2016.

Here are some other movies you might want to check out next year:
