Well Go USA Entertainment announced its acquisition of North American rights for TRAIN TO BUSAN, a zombie apocalypse thriller from award-winning director Yeon Sang-ho (THE KING OF PIGS, FAKE, and SEOUL STATION) and produced by RedPeter Film. TRAIN TO BUSAN premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight Screenings category.
TRAIN TO BUSAN is a harrowing zombie horror-thriller that follows a group of terrified passengers fighting their way through a countrywide viral outbreak, trapped on a suspicion-filled, blood-drenched bullet train ride to the Safe Zone…which may or may not still be there.
The film stars Gong Yoo (THE SUSPECT), Jung Yu-mi (SILENCED), and Ma Dong-seok (KUNDO: AGE OF THE RAMPANT).
A theatrical release is planned for the US and Canada in late July, closely following the film’s home-country release.
“We’re thrilled to bring this film to North America because it takes the foundations of the action and thriller genres, weaves in a powerful social message, and creates something completely new,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO of Well Go USA Entertainment. TRAIN TO BUSAN takes the zombie-apocalypse story in an exciting new direction, and that’s exactly the type of movie experience we love to provide,” she said.
TRAIN TO BUSAN was written by Park Joo-suk and directed by Yeon Sang-ho. The film was produced by RedPeter Film in association with Next Entertainment World, with Kim Woo-taek as Executive Producer and Lee Dongha as Producer. The deal was negotiated by Doris Pfardrescher on behalf of Well Go USA Entertainment and Danny Lee of Contents Panda on behalf of the filmmakers.
