Horror Update: ‘XX’ gets a release date


A film we have been curious to hear details on is the all female anthology horror film XX. It’s truly been a while since we have had any updates on the feature but today Magnet Releasing dropped some news. It was announced that the highly anticipated feature will make its premiere at Sundance followed up by a limited theater and VOD release on February 17th, 2017.  Four killer films is what’s in store for the anthology with they very talented Annie Clark , Karyn Kusama, Roxanne Benjamin and Jovanka Vuckovic behind the camera. Magnet Releasing & XYZ Film’s horror anthology XX opens in theaters and on VOD on February 17, 2017 and features an all-female lineup of filmmakers- four deadly tales by four killer women.

XX is a new all-female helmed horror anthology featuring four dark tales written and directed by fiercely talented women: Annie Clark (St. Vincent) rocks her directorial debut with THE BIRTHDAY PARTY; Karyn Kusama (THE INVITATION, GIRLFIGHT) exorcises HER ONLY LIVING SON; Roxanne Benjamin (V/H/S trilogy, SOUTHBOUND) screams DON’T FALL; and Jovanka Vuckovic (THE CAPTURED BIRD, former editor of Rue Morgue Magazine) dares to open THE BOX. Award-winning animator Sofia Carrillo (LA CASA TRISTE) wraps together stories of terror, blood and mayhem featuring a cast including Natalie Brown, Melanie Lynskey, Breeda Wool, Angela Trimbur, Sheila Vand and Christina Kirk.


The film will make its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in the Midnight category. Roxanne Benjamin, Sofia Carrillo, Annie Clark, and Jovanka Vuckovic will be in attendance.
