Sci fi thriller ‘Rupture’ in theaters and VOD next week

Already hitting the ppv hard on DirectTV is the Steven Shainberg thriller RUPTURE. The story follows a woman who is kidnapped by a sinister organization and must find away to escape the horrible tragedy that awaits. In the vein of the film SECRETARY from Shainberg this has all the potentials for a cult classic from a filmmaker with an eye for the provocative. As mentioned before DirectTV viewers can watch this right now, but RUPTURE heads to VOD and limited theaters on April 28th.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the release of director Steven Shainberg’s S&M hit, SECRETARY. Shainberg’s new film, RUPTURE spins off the kink of SECRETARY to more sinister sci-fi thriller storytelling. RUPTURE features an  all-star team including star Noomi Rapace (GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, PROMETHEUS), co-writer Brian Nelson (HARD CANDY), producer Andrew Lazar (AMERICAN SNIPER) and cinematographer Karim Hussain (ANTIVIRAL, WE ARE STILL HERE). Co-starring Peter Stomare, Michael Chiklis, Lesley Manvile and Kerry Bishé.

Award-winning, iconoclastic writer/director Steven Shainberg  builds upon the S&M roots of his indie film sensation, 2002’s extraordinary kink masterpiece SECRETARY with the disturbing sci-fi and horror storytelling of his new film, RUPTURE. Single mother Renee Morgan (Noomi Rapace, channeling both her Lisbeth Salander from THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and Elizabeth Shaw from PROMETHEUS) finds herself kidnapped by a mysterious organization and held in a sinister facility. She must fight for her independence from a terrifying, paternalistic system where she is now the subject of an underground experiment. Co-starring Peter Stomare, Michael Chiklis, Lesley Manville and Kerry Bishé in a transfigured underworld of nightmares. Scripted by Shainberg  and Brian Nelson (HARD CANDY), produced by Andrew Lazar (AMERICAN SNIPER) and featuring heart-pounding cinematography by Karim Hussain (ANTIVIRAL, WE ARE STILL HERE).
