The formula of little kids in horror will never die out. As you can see from successful films like IT, SUPER 8 and shows like STRANGER THINGS, a rowdy group plus an unknown entity is always a winner. Enter in SUMMER OF 84’ by RKSS which is collective that brought us the cult hit TURBO KID. The movie follows a group of adolescents spending their summer during the midst of a serial killer. The teaser looks great and we have it to see ahead. This is one of the more anticipated features in the summer. Look for it in theaters on August 10th followed up by a VOD release on the 24th of August courtesy of Gunpowder & Sky.

SUMMER OF 84 is directed by the Montreal filmmaking collective RKSS (Turbo Kid) which consists of François Simard and brother & sister Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell.  The cast includes Graham Verchere (“Psych,” “Once Upon a Time”), Judah Lewis (The Babysitter, Demolition), Caleb Emery (Goosebumps, “Dear White People”), Cory Grüter-Andrew (“Fargo,” “The 100″), Tiera Skovbye (“Riverdale,” “Once Upon a Time”), and Rich Sommer (“GLOW,” “Mad Men”).

Summer, 1984: The perfect time to be 15 years old and care free. But when neighborhood conspiracy theorist Davey Armstrong begins to suspect his police officer neighbor might be the serial killer all over the local news, he and his three best friends begin an investigation that soon turns dangerous.

With passion and enthusiasm in everything they do, RKSS has developed quite a cult following through the years fueled by their unforgettable short films (Le BAGMAN, Demonitron, T is for Turbo).  They are darlings of festivals worldwide and the genre community really gets and supports them. Their vision and style is what sets them apart, as does the collaborative and genuine relationships with each other.

The film made its World Premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and will be released in theaters on August 10, 2018, and available on VOD and Digital HD on August 24, 2018.
